This makes me believe that those were not actually a common American food. I now regret eating the entire confection in order to fully experience what I thought to be a thoughtful treat.

Caramel apples are traditional and delicious. Caramel onions are not. But hey, I ate two to make sure they were awful. At least you only ate one?
