Whoever put those apples in the kitchen has no feelings, fragile or otherwise. They weren't apples at all. They were onions. Which is why I saluted them. That's a pretty awesome prank.
This makes me believe that those were not actually a common American food. I now regret eating the entire confection in order to fully experience what I thought to be a thoughtful treat.
