Okay - something I just don't understand: people who go into a coffee shop for a drink and wind up ordering something completely ridiculous. Half-caf soy latte, unsweet, half-foam, a shot of sugar-free caramel flavoring, no whip. Jeez, just take the fun right out of ordering a latte. I mean, what are normal people supposed to say after that? "Hi, can I have a pumpkin spice latte? Um... just the pumpkin... and the spice? No, no - no special instructions." Seriously?

Also, I seem to have purchased about a pound of roasted pumpkin seeds, so if you want any, I'm leaving them in the kitchen. They're pretty much delicious.

People who drink half-caf sugar-free no whip have no fun in their souls anyway. (I'm giving the soy a pass 'cause some people can't have real milk.)

Pfft. Have you ever tried to /order/ one of those three times fast? Do not be telling me you are not a fan of tongue twisters, bucko.

So you are saying you would not be willing to get me a double-whip hazelnut-cinnamon-caramel latte macchiato with an extra shot of espresso?

I don't get why everyone drinks coffee. It tastes like ass.

Okay, you have a valid point on the soy thing. I concede that.

My tongue does, indeed, enjoy being twisted. But that is not the point!

Nah, I'll totally get you one of those. Cause you're not taking things away, you're adding stuff. A lot of stuff - how do you even distinguish the tastes from one another?

Coffee is delicious. Or it can be, if it's made right. Of course, I say that without having to deal with your heightened senses and stuff. Maybe you're tasting something in the coffee the rest of us just can't. Don't know - you should try some good French roast, though. Little bit of sweetener, little bit of cream.

A challenge - excellent. Are we going to test this like we tested the onion rings?

I saw your impalah today.

Sweet.

Did you? What'd you think of her? She's not much to look at, at the moment, but she's gonna be gorgeous once we're finished with her.

Looked fine to me. Korvus was fiddling with her and doing something underneath with the sockets and wrenches.

How do you distinguish from the different tastes in soup or a good wine or sauces? Caramel is sweet, cinnamon is slightly spicy and hazelnut is ... nutty.

Valid question. I'd never given it much thought. A sauce is a sauce, a wine's a wine. It's either good or it's not. That's usually about as far as my analysis of it goes.

Nothing wrong with that. I can teach both of you and Sarah. She's been doing pretty well. Maybe once she gets her licence, she can help me teach the two of you how to do things.

Korvus and perhaps Sarah also will also need to take the state-approved drivers education classes and there was some irregular number of hours with a sanctioned instructor. He will also have to bring an immense pile of paperwork to the DMV since I assume he is in the country on a student visa or refugee green card? It was a paperwork nightmare to get my drivers' license and from what I recall it was not much better for my American classmates at the time.

It was quite irritating. It is possible I am still taking out my irritation with it on innocent parked cars.

Paperwork is, indeed, a pain. If I remember correctly, when I had to do all this, I needed about four different items to verify I was who I was and then I had to do a bunch of other stuff, plus the state exam and then the vision exam and the road sign exam.

But paperwork can be conquered.

See, now I'm all kinds of curious. What're you doing to the innocent, parked cars?

I had to have all of the items to prove who I was, plus the paperwork to prove that the Professor could act as my guardian in lieu of my parents, plus also I had to prove that I was not eligible for a social security number because I was a student on a visa, and was not going to work in the United States at the time. It was absurd. and then, yes, the written test which I think was both the exam and the road signs, and then the vision test and then also the road test later after I had my learning permit for some number of months I do not recall at the moment.

Occasionally I hit them with another vehicle while I am attempting to park it. This is why I do not drive often.

Practical exam - I was really good at that. The rest of it was kind of boring, but I wound up studying it so I could actually, you know, get my license and stuff.

I'm pretty sure all that stuff you had to do to get your license was meant to reassure the people giving you the license that you weren't actually going to hit parked cars while attempting to park your own. Just sayin'.

In my defense, even if I am terrible at parking, I can drive a Jeep quite adeptly while in a very bad part of the world, trying to animate a herd of antelope and attempting to avoid the potholes, gunshots and other distractions (namely Bishop and Remy)around me.

I'm going to take you bogging. This will have to wait until next year and it will involve me stealing Sam's truck... it will also involve you not wearing anything you don't want getting muddy. But! It'll be awesome.

You get bonus points for avoiding the potholes.
